Born into a hardworking farm family where austerity, both physical and emotional was required, my mother brought all that plus her own dreams of a lighter more fun-filled life to be with my father. Where she grew up never acknowledging family birthdays, she made sure we celebrated ours. She wanted her girls to get the education she was denied, let us skip washing up the dishes if we needed to practice piano, and made us beautiful clothing on her Singer sewing machine.
A woman of faith, generosity and fortitude managing all the curveballs life threw, my mother provided a path for me in ways I continue to uncover. She will forever be my first and foremost GrandWoman.
